Norman Herr, Ph.D.

Norman Herr is a professor of science and educational technology at California State University, Northridge.  He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, his master of science degree from the University of California, Davis, and his bachelor of science degree from the University of California, Irvine.   Dr. Herr has taught 40 different science, science education, and educational technology related courses at UCDavis, Glendale College, Maranatha High School, and California State University Northridge. Dr. Herr is the author of The Sourcebook for Teaching Science, Hands-on Chemistry Activities with Real-Life Applications, Hands-On Physics Activities with Real-Life Applications, and numerous publications in technology & science education.  He is one of the authors of the California Frameworks for Teaching Physics and Chemistry, and principal investigator or co-investigator for more than 100 grants. Dr. Herr directs the CSUN Masters Program in Science Education ,the Credential Program in Science Education, and the CSUN Math & Science Teacher Initiative.

Interests & Hobbies 

I am an avid outdoorsman and enjoy backpacking, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, mountain climbing, and mountain biking. I help coordinate the CSUN Christian Faculty Association, and am a board member of La Montaña Christian Camps in Costa Rica. I enjoy world travel as well as travel within the United States.

I am committed to improving the quality of education and have been inspired by the works of other educators such as Dr. Mel Beech.
